Running through the San Juan, Rio Grande, and Gunnison National Forests in Southwest Colorado, the area around Silverton boasts 150 miles of snowmobiling trails. These trails start at an elevation of 9,000-10,000 feet, and then rise up to over 13,000 feet. The trails are groomed and maintained by the Silverton Snowmobile Club.

Molas Divide, at an elevation of 10,664 feet, contains beautiful views and the nearby 68 miles of snowmobiling trails. The divide is located on a section of the San Juan Skyway known as the Million Dollar Highway. These trails are recommended for all ability levels. The west side ascent becomes a moderate rated ride and it climbs up the steep mountain. Keep in mind that no snowmobilers are allowed in or around Andrews Lake. The trail can be accessed at the top of Molas Divide and at Molas Lake, with parking one mile north of the pass.

The Silverton trail and the South Mineral Creek trail can both be accessed from town. Here, parking is at the visitor's center. These trails run near the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. The town of Silverton also permits snowmobiling on the streets if you have a flag on your vehicle, are over 14 years old and obey the speed limits and traffic laws.
