The SteamPlant Theatre and Event Center, located on the Arkansas River in downtown Salida, is Chaffee County's (if not Colorado's) newest meeting and event facility. The hitoric brick building, built in 1892 was home to Salida's first power company, a 1,000 kilowatt steam generating plant, known as the Salida Light and Power Company. In 1942, the Salida Light and Power Company consolidated with Public Service Company of Colorado. Salida's Steamplant was operated successfully by Public Service until 1958. The abandon building was successfully resurrected in 1988 with the help of local citizens and visionaries. This past year, the addition of the ballroom and meeting spaces has transformed the SteamPlant into the premier location for meetings, events, conferences and conventions.

----The SteamPlant is the location for Love. Weddings, receptions and rehearsal dinners will create lasting memories at the SteamPlant. From receptions and ceremonies at the enchanting Riverside Plaza to full service sit-down dinners in the elegant Grand Ballroom, the talented, friendly and personalized staff at the SteamPlant can create a day or night to remember.
-----The SteamPlant is the location for conferences to conventions. The Riverside meeting rooms can be broken down into small meeting rooms or opened up to accommodate up to 150 people. The Grand Ballroom can be used for large groups of 300 or turned into a convention or exhibit hall. With more than 18,400 square feet of meeting space, state of the art technology and personalized catering, the SteamPlant is the premier location.
--------The SteamPlant is the location for retreats, receptions and reunions. Companies, friends or families can find the perfect getaway to unwind, reflect and re-energize. The SteamPlant and Chaffee County can put together an itinerary that begins with a meeting or meal, but also includes mountain biking, hiking, rafting or skiing to complement your retreat, or reunion. Receptions of all shapes and sizes can have the perfect riverfront location, in the beautiful outdoor Riverside Plaza, the Grand Ballroom or the historic theatre and reception area. One or any combination of rooms can be used to create the ultimate experience for everyone.
