SUMMER TRAIL RIDES. Shadow Mountain Guest Ranch was established in 1936 as a guest ranch by the Carmichael Family. Today Jim White has maintained the beauty and simplicity of days long gone. Among aspen and pine trees, all the private cabins have queen beds. The school house, a three bedroom cabin, sleeps up to 12 people and has a fireplace. Cabins have full kitchens or kitchenettes and gas grills for preparing your favorite family meals.

Hunter Cabin

Ahh...Relaxation...

This unique ranch offers breakfast with all cabin rentals, and what a breakfast you will enjoy! They prepare a delicious breakfast each day, which includes a sampling of fresh fruit, muffins, and cobblers before the main course of biscuits and gravy, stuffed French toast, a variety of quiche, pancakes or a breakfast burrito. You will head out for your day of activities will a warm smile and a happy tummy. Additional meals are available with advance arrangements.

Trapper Cabin

The central, historic, log lodge has two large stone fireplaces and a comfortable seating area for conversation, satellite television, card games and socializing with other guests. Enjoy their hot tub for the ultimate in relaxation. If wading in a cold mountain stream is all the exercise you want, then try your fly-fishing luck on Willow Creek for rainbow trout right here. Or sit on your porch and watch moose wade through the creek.

Located near Rocky Mountain National Park and Lake Granby, you can hunt, fish, boat and hike to your heart's content. Summer trail rides are a great way to explore the picturesque area. The ranch is on 80 acres with trail access to the Arapahoe National Forest and Bureau of Land Management land, so there is plenty to see and do. Big game hunting is available on the ranch and the surrounding forest. Hunters enjoy meals prepared for them by the ranch as well as game packing services. Winter snow makes an ideal playground for the sports minded. SolVista (formerly known as Silver Creek) Ski Area is about 15 minutes away.

The lodge is a good place for groups, workshops, entertainment or just plain chat in a homey atmosphere. Take advantage of the licensed massage therapist on-call to ease your aches and pains. Dogs are allowed for a moderate fee. Jim White, owner; Jamie White Birch, hostess.

High Country Trails - Start your ride in the country not in town, at historic Shadow Mountain Guest Ranch near Granby: trail rides, hay rides, wedding carriages, custom rides, overnight pack trips, fishing trips, and hunting trips.

Location: Less than 2 hours from Denver. 25 minutes to either Grand Lake or Winter Park. Take Highway 40 west from Granby to Highway 125. Then 5 miles north of US 40 on Colorado Highway 125.
