Double Eagle Gold Mine: The mine is located on the Argo Gold Mill site and is part of the tour you will enjoy as you relive the days when mining was king. Inspect a real gold mine unchanged since the early miners first worked it.

The Tunnel: In 1893, construction of the Argo Tunnel began, it would be 17 years before it would reach Central City, over 4.2 miles away. The Tunnel provided water drainage, ventilation and economical transportation of the gold bearing ore from the many mines it intersected along the way.

The Mill: The Argo Mill was constructed to process the gold bearing ore from these mines. When completed the Argo would be the largest mill of its type in the world. The Mill processed over 100 million dollars of Gold Ore at the old time prices of $18.00 to $35.00 per ounce and stands today as a memorial to the Hard Rock Miners of the day...When Gold was King!

Your Tour Begins: In Argotown where an experienced guide will inform you of the history of the Tunnel, the Mine and the Mill. You will be transported up to the mine which is the same level as the top of the Mill. You can walk through the Mine and then down through the Mill, reading and observing the equipment, tools, and the process used to extract the gold. The Museum displays tools and relics used by the Miners at the turn of the century.

Your Tour Ends: FREE gold panning instructions. Keep your gold, FREE. Try your luck with a pan of free Gold Ore tailings or buy a sack of Guaranteed Gold or Gemstone Ore.
