APPLE VALLEY FARMSTEAD
Apple Valley Farmstead is a century old secluded five acre property one mile outside of Lyons. It is nestled in the foothills bordering the North St. Vrain River (fishing in your own back yard)! It is in the valley between Steamboat Mountain and Rattlesnake Ridge (never fear, no rattlesnakes seen on property for at least 38 years)! In its time it had been a small dairy farm and iris garden retail site. The farmstead is located on Apple Valley Road, which was the old road to Estes Park before the by-pass was built. so fortunately Apple Valley Road is now a "Road Less Traveled" and very beautiful. The farmstead is exquisitely landscaped with majestic old shade trees, Koi pond with waterfalls, picturesque old weathered barn and out buildings, as well as a tree house and picnic table riverside.
THE GATEHOUSE AT APPLE VALLEY FARMSTEAD
The Gatehouse is at the entrance to Apple Valley Farmstead. It is a cozy one bedroom log cabin with covered veranda. It has been totally renovated with upscale appliances and furniture, white-washed pine cathedral ceiling and white-washed pine laminate flooring. There is a wonderfully comfortable queen bed in the bedroom and a queen hide-a-bed sofa in the living room. There is a 3/4 bathroom. It has a High Definition satellite TV, phone and charcoal grill. Luxury bedding, dishes and cookware are provided. There are basic condiments, coffee, tea and a few food items like rice, instant potatoes, etc. The general rule with food is if you use a little, leave a little! There are games and books available. The Gatehouse is an easy walk to Planet Bluegrass and downtown Lyons. Lyons is renowned for its fine restaurants, coffee shops, antques, live music, hiking and bike rails, historic popular soda fountain and is known as the "Double Gateway to the Rockies", via Highway 36 or Highway 7. There is a laundry facility in Lyons. Boulder is 15 miles, Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park 20 miles. The Gatehouse can be your quiet retreat away from the crowds or act as a base from which to explore the best that a Colorado vacation has to offer. Festival at Planet Bluegrass: Bluegrass Festival - Usually 4th week in July, Folks Fest - 3 weeks in August, Festival of the Mabon - Saturday closest to Autumn Equinox. 416 Apple Valley Road, Lyons Colorado 80540; 877-823-6875.
